What do you put your energy towards?
I watched the Care Bears a lot as a kid, and I felt jealous of the Care Bear Stare, which is when the whole community joins together to extend rays of love, care, joy, and other positive energies from their bellies and into people, objects, and the space around them. Sometimes I imagined hearts extending from my belly, since Tender Heart Care Bear was/is my favorite. This was the superpower I wanted, and turns out, we all have it!
Our bodies are made up of energy and we’re always putting our life energy towards something, though it may not be aligned with what is most important to us. Sometimes I say I want to meditate, read, or do my somatic practices and instead find myself doomscrolling on Instagram. The reasons for any of us to check out and escape are understandable, and when I do that, I’m usually not moving towards what I want for my life. When I practice returning home to my body, I am more present in this moment and have more choice about where my energy goes. One of my teachers, Staci Haines, says,
“Energy flows where our attention goes.”
The beginning of the calendar and lunar year prompts many of us to consider our priorities and goals and to take action towards fulfilling on those commitments. The more embodied we become, the more we can align our impulses and actions with what we want, what’s important to us, or what we long for. Through practice, our energy will follow our attention. If we're not doing this already, the Care Bear stare is always within us waiting to be awakened.
What do you want for your life right now? What are you prioritizing? And how are you moving your Care Bear Stare life energy towards that?
